In his last year with the Detroit Tigers, the great Ty Cobb crosses home plate after hitting one of this two home runs on the day as the Tigers out slugged the Yankees 14-10 in the Bronx. He would hit his first homer off the Yanks relief pitcher Urban Shocker in the second inning, his second blast would be in sixth inning against Myles Thomas. The Georgia Peach would go for 4 for 4 on the day with three runs scored and four runs batted in as he raised his batting average on the season to .426. Cobb was never known as a power hitter and even so he did hit 111 home runs, 46 of the round-trippers were of the inside-the-park variety.
Some interesting notes about this photo, Cobb looks like he is having words with home plate umpire Bill McGowan or maybe the Yankees bench, and on the bottom right there is a young lad holding a baseball bat who looks like he should be anywhere but on a ball field.
