The Dodgers catcher Al Lopez holds up the ball to show the umpire after placing the tag on a non-sliding Kiki Cuyler in the 5th inning. The Cubs at that point were already up 5-0 and would coast to a 8-3 win behind Stan Hack’s three RBIs. Despite Cuyler’s misstep he would have two hits and two RBIs himself and teammate and starting pitcher Bill Lee would get the complete game win to improve his record to 5-2.
