If you love Baseball History, you’ve come to the right place!
I’m Gary Livacari, and, as you might guess, I’m the editor and administrator of the Baseball History Comes Alive! web site. My goal is to preserve baseball’s rich tradition through vintage baseball photos and informative baseball history essays. All our posts are categorized by subject for easy accessibility and viewing. Most are accompanied by a full photo gallery.
I’m a baseball historian and SABR member who also enjoys writing. My forte is identifying ballplayers in old photos, and my special interest is the Dead Ball Era. For many years I did player identifications for the Baseball Fever website. I was an editor for the Boston Public Library Leslie Jones Baseball Collection, helping to identify ballplayers in almost 3000 photos from the 1930s and 1940s.
I’ve written four baseball books and I’ve also written a few biographies for the SABR Bioproject, plus numerous articles and book reviews. For the past ten years, I’ve been a co-editor of the Old-Time Baseball Photos Facebook page. We’re very proud that our Facebook page has grown to over 100K followers. We’re also glad to have our resident baseball artist and crack baseball researcher, Don Stokes, as part of our team. Don did the beautiful colorization of Babe Ruth that appears at the top of this page.
I hope you’ll enjoy Baseball History Comes Alive. We love interacting with our readers, so feel free to add any comments.
