Here is a wonderful photo of the Philadelphia policemen with their billy clubs on duty sitting on Hire’s Root Beer wooden cases. This photo was most likely taken on October 9th or 10th, Games One and Two of the Boston Braves and Athletics 1914 World Series, won by the Miracle Braves in a four game sweep.
Also in the background you’ll see fans sitting on the rooftops of row houses which was common to the chagrin of the Athletics, who would finally put an end to it in 1935 with a Spite Fence, a 50-foot wall that obstructed the views for the rooftop rooters.
