The Pirates newly acquired slugger 36-year-old Hank Greenberg watches his third home run of the young season leave the ballpark. The third inning smash, a two-run shot scoring shortstop Billy Cox, off Phillies starter Ken Raffensberger gave Pittsburgh a 4-0 lead. Two batters later another legendary home run hitter in Ralph Kiner would hit his own two-run blast to give the Bucs a 6-0 lead and chase Raffensberger to an early shower.
After the Pirates slugfest pitcher and Canadian-native Ed Bahr would stifle the Phillies bats the rest of the game giving up just two runs on eight hits for the complete game win.
Also in the photo is umpire George Barr and Phillies catcher Andy Seminick. The game was played in one hour and 55 minutes and in front of 27,203.
