What’s the old saying? If you don’t toot your own horn, no one will!

Here’s our latest publication, hot off the presses…or at least the Amazon e-book cloud! It’s called:

“Paul Pryor In His Own Words: The Life and Times of a 20-year Major League Umpire.”

Some of you older guys will recall Paul Pryor, who was a long-time major league umpire (1961-1982). It just so happens his son, Fred Pryor, is one of our regular readers. Umpires are often overlooked, but last year I wrote a post about his dad which seemed to go over real well. Since then Fred and I have become friends, and he recently asked if I would be interested in helping compiling his father’s biography. I replied “I sure would.”

So Fred and I put our heads together and Paul Pryor in His Own Words is the result. Here’s a few words I wrote about the book for the Amazon information page:

“Paul Pryor was a man of many talents. He’s remembered as one of the most highly regarded umpires in major league history, having officiated 3,094 major league games over a 21-year career (1961-1982). Before his call to the major leagues, he logged many years as a minor league pitcher and umpire, some under the most trying of circumstances. He was an accomplished and highly sought after banquet speaker, an outstanding writer and teacher, and a successful entrepreneur and businessman. But most important, he remained a devoted husband and father, whose family’s well-being was always foremost in his mind.”
