Jackie Robinson is greeted by teammates after connecting for a solo home run against the Giants Johnny Antonelli. The second-inning blast gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead but they weren’t done in the inning, a Duke Snider single would bring home Jim Gilliam and Pee Wee Reese for a 4-0 lead. The Giants Alvin Dark and Willie Mays would both homer to help rally the home team but in the end it wasn’t enough as the Dodgers held on a to a 8-5 win and improved their early season record to 30-10. For the defending World Champs the Giants, they would drop to 22-20 and fall nine games back of Brooklyn in the standings.

One of the things I love about this photo is the trunk in the dugout, it just oozes coolness.
