This photo is taken right before the 1963 NFL Championship Game kicked off between the Chicago Bears and New York Giants. Originally NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle lobbied Bears coach/owner George Halas to move the game to the bigger venue Solider Field, but Papa Bear refused.

As for the game the Bears defeated the Giants 14-10 as the temperature dropped under 10 degrees and a wind chill that got as low as -11. Bears quarterback Billy Wade scored on a one-yard run for the winning touchdown in the 3rd quarter. On the other side of the ball, the Bears defense harassed the Giants star quarterback Y.A. Tittle into five interceptions and only 147 yards passing, It would be the Bears last championship until 1986 when they crushed the New England Patriots 46-10 in Super Bowl XX.

Besides the Bears, Wrigley Field was home to two other professional football teams:

Chicago Tigers, AFPA (1920)
Chicago Cardinals, NFL (1931-1939)
