Congrats to Vince Jankoski!

Boomer Ball Now Available on Amazon!

I couldn’t be prouder of our contributor Vince Jankoski. His first book, Boomer Ball: A Baby Boomer Reflects on the Game He Loves, is now available on Amazon in both ebook and paperback formats.

Boomer Ball is a collection of many of Vince’s outstanding essays, all of which have appeared here on Baseball History Comes Alive. I’m happy to say that I served as a proofreader and copy editor for the project. As such, I feel it’s no exaggeration when I say that Vince Jankoski has emerged as one of the top baseball essayists on the scene today; and I’m happy to have him as a contributor to my website.

Those of you who are regular readers here on Baseball History Comes Alive are very familiar with Vince’s work. Vince always does his homework and is not afraid to take a deep dive into controversial subjects. And more often than not, I find myself agreeing with Vince’s conclusions.

Think I’m kidding about Vince and controversial subjects? Just a few of the topics Vince tackles include:

  • Who was the greatest third baseman during professional baseball’s first 100 years?
  • Which player was the most adept at turning a double play?
  • Was Casey Stengel a genius or just plain lucky?
  • Were the Kansas City Athletics a “farm team” of the New York Yankees?
  • Who was the fastest pitcher of all time?
  • Was Brooks Robinson really the best fielding third baseman of his generation?

See what I mean? But no matter what subject Vince takes on, I can guarantee that you’ll learn something that you were previously unaware of.  After all, isn’t that our goal…to learn as much as we can about the game we all love?

And if, like me, that indeed is your goal, then you can’t go wrong in reading Vince’s new book, Boomer Ball. It’s a book I can heartily recommend to all fans of baseball history.
